Edge still promoting Barnett prank despite backlash
The Edge may have apologised for their much-publicised prank of Simon Barnett, but the radio station continues to promote the segment.
The backlash to the 'fake' interview Barnett conducted with a Tom Cruise impersonator on sister station More FM continues, with Edge hosts Jay-Jay and Dom Harvey both subjected to bullying attacks online.
MediaWorks refused to comment on why the prank continued to be promoted on-air over the weekend. It also remained highlighted on the Rova streaming app on Monday morning.
Barnett has said he doesn't want to discuss it any more - but the Harveys are still dealing with the backlash.
"People who are accusing us of 'bullying' are being much more nasty and personal to us," Jay-Jay said in a Facebook statement on Sunday in which she officially apologised for the prank. "In perspective, we just pulled a prank on the radio to our workmates. And we have apologised."
Posts on Jay-Jay's Facebook page include unsavoury references to her appearance and battle with depression, while husband and co-host Dom Harvey said that it was "time to get offline for a bit", citing one comment describing the pair as "two of the most disgusting people out there. I don't know how they haven't been king-hit in the street yet coz they deserve it".
Others described Dom as "horrible", a "heartless cruel bastard", and one Facebook user even compared him to dog faeces.
