Five ways with a black slip dress
A slip is indispensable under sheer dresses and the like, or over a T-shirt. But worn solo as a dress? I had written that off because of lack of bra options – a pool side-only outfit perhaps.
I had another theme planned for this shoot, but when model Mercy Brewer tried on the Liam slip dress, I was surprised by how flattering its thick satin was in combination with a bias cut.
While lots of women might not wear it solo, when combined with jackets, tops, shirts and other dresses, there's a plethora of styling possibilities.
As evening wear, a slip dress is elegant worn under an evening jacket or robe. The kimono it's paired with here is new but a vintage one could be even better – I've picked them up for $50. Strappy sandals, a little jewellery and a killer bag prevent it from feeling like a nightie.
