This week we tried: A Pure Fiji guava anti-aging body wrap
WE TRIED: A Pure Fiji Guava anti-aging wrap
WE WENT TO: Pure Indulgence Wellness Spa, Pukekohe
WHAT IT'S FOR: The anti-aging body wrap uses a botanical blend infused with vitamin-C rich guava fruit to boost collagen production, tone, hydrate and nourish.
SEAL OF APPROVAL: Pure Fiji is famous for its tropical skincare ranges and spa treatments. I like the company's ethical approach, too - its sustainable manufacturing practices help support several villages and funds schools, health care, nutrition and basic infrastructure for hundreds of people in Fiji. A-listers Nicole Kidman, Claudia Schiffer and Kate Winslet are all Pure Fiji fans.
PREP FACTOR: None.
OUR EXPERIENCE: After exploring Pure Indulgence Spa's tranquil Balinese-style gardens and sipping a cup of Bestow Sisterhood herbal tea in the cosy fire-lit lounge, I am led to the Lotus Room for my 75-minute treatment.
There, my therapist Natalie uses sugar rub to exfoliate my whole body. Steamed towels are used to remove the residue and I'm treated to some heavenly massaging before a warm guava body mask is brushed on.
With my body cocooned in warm towels, Natalie sets about giving me a warm oil scalp massage while the collagen-boosting guava fruit gets to work. I flick into snooze mode and before I know it I'm gently being woken up...
PAIN FACTOR: Zilch.
PLEASURE FACTOR: Bula! I'm so relaxed - what resort am I at again?
OUR VERDICT: You glow girl. My skin feels and looks smoother and more supple... and, of course, I smell amazing. My legs and arms actually feel quite toned (my resolve to amp up the gym sessions is steeled).
BOOK IT IN IF: You need serious winter skin rehab or you're jetting off on a tropical holiday - this level of exfoliation gives you just the foundation to build a great fake tan on.
EXPECT TO PAY: $169 (for 75 minutes).
