Fashion weeks take homewares turn

Fashion week catwalks have taken a comfortable turn SS17 with some designers weaving homewares into their latest collections.

It started at New York Fashion Week when Raf Simons sent models down the runway at Calvin Klein with vibrant, logo-covered blankets draped over their arms.

The homeware love didn't stop in New York.

Luxury British fashion label Mother of Pearl kicked off their early morning London Fashion Week show with models holding plush pillow-like clutches with zippers across the top.

However, by the end of the show models were strutting down the runway with actual outfit co-ordinated pillows snuggled under their arms.

Anya Hindmarch put her own stamp on the cosy fashion week trend with tufted leather bags that could double as a chic pillow at the end of a long day.

This isn't the first time homewares have caused a stir at fashion week.

There was an Instagram frenzy at Gucci's 2017 resort show at Westminster Abbey due to the hand-embroidered cushions that had been placed on the seat of each guest as a teaser for the brands recently released decor collection

Post show the cushions were shared more widely than the collection itself.

Here's hoping it soon becomes a fashion statement to bring a cosy pillow to work.
