Gift of giggles keeps on giving as Timaru twins rack up 60 million views
Views of the video, which shows Timaru twin brothers giggling while sitting on a Powerfit machine, had nearly doubled by Thursday afternoon, just 48 hours after it was posted.
Mum to one-year-old twins Noah and Micah, Kelly Thomas, said the video had "gone mad".
"[I'm] just overwhelmed. It's pretty extreme," Thomas said.
"It's gone so big so quickly, and we never planned for this to happen or expected this to happen, that we're kind of almost being stopped in our tracks."
Thomas' sister Lauren, a Christchurch based photographer, filmed the two boys sitting on their mum's Powerfit machine before they had their bath on Tuesday morning.
Lauren shared the video with online blogger Ellie Hanies, who then shared it on her Facebook page Loving Ellie's Belly.
Within hours views of the video were in the millions.
Thomas said the fact they had not purposefully set out to achieve what they had, made it harder.
"At no point did we think 'two days later they'll be at 60 million views and we'd be being hounded by different people' and things like that. That wasn't our plan."
Thomas and Lauren had spent the past 24 hours fending off continuous calls from media around the world, as media agencies were keen to purchase the rights to the video.
"[Lauren] actually owns the video so she's getting hounded by people," Thomas said.
"We're just taking it step by step and working out what's best for us and really what's best for the boys, because they're the ones that it's really all about.
"We have to think ... we have to do the right thing."
Thomas said she had not taken any overseas media agencies up on their requests for interviews.
"I have heard that it was shared on Channel 9 News in Australia ... it is definitely being spread.
"We're just hanging pretty tight and trying to get professional advice ... just seeking our options."
Thomas said the video was popping up on more and more Facebook pages.
She said The Lad Bible page had shared it "so it's now going to even more places which I guess is why the video views continue to climb at rapid rates".
Talk show hosts Ellen DeGeneres and Graham Norton had been tagged in the video, but had not made contact with Thomas.
