Redhead triplet babies from Christchurch melt hearts across the internet video

Christchurch newborn triplets Macy, Toby and Sadie are melting hearts around the world.

Pictures of baby redhead triplets from Christchurch are making thousands go "aw" around the world.

The photos shared on social media show the babies relaxed and happy together - just as they were in the womb only weeks earlier.

The month-old triplets were photographed a week ago by Cassandra English, a Christchurch photographer who specialises in the newborn baby genre.

She says Macy, Toby and Sadie behaved beautifully throughout the quick three-and-a-half hour shoot, which was also filmed by Emma Smart.

English has been amazed by the response. "It's been a nice surprise. I haven't seen any negative comments and you never know when a video like that goes out," she says.

"I've had lots of messages from people saying how much it means to them. you know ... people telling me their life story. Many say they cry when they look at it.

"I think it brings back a lot of nice memories for people of those first few weeks with a newborn."

What about the wonderful looks on the babies' little babies' faces? It's probably just wind, English says.

She should know. She has photographed about 300 newborns in the two-and-a-half years she's been working as a photographer. But she knew the triplets' session would be something particularly special.

The room was kept to a very warm 35-degrees and white noise and womb noises were played to keep the babies relaxed.

But only one thing kept them really happy and settled, and that was being closely cuddled together.

"You always try to get individual shots but in this case I couldn't," says English. "Every time I'd take one baby away, they would stir. Then when you put them back together again, they would settle. It was quite amazing actually."

She goes for a natural and timeless style, which is all about the babies but "not about fancy hats and stuff".

Another photo session is planned with the triplets and their two older siblings - all under 3 years.
