David Beckham proves he is just like any other dad
All parents have been there. Hunched over, bewildered, tongue emerging from the mouth in pure concentration... and that's just to get the packaging open.
Even with 20 years of professional soccer under his belt, David Beckham has shown he's just like the rest of us, posting a photo to his Instagram account poised to assemble a 4000-piece Lego Disney castle for his daughter Harper, 6.
Huddled over the huge instruction manual for this most epic of Lego builds, Beckham writes: "Page 1 of the Disney castle, 4000 pieces 490 pages of instructions. I look confused but I'm so excited."
The backdrop of a luxury sun bed on the terrace of a Tuscan-style mansion might not be all that relatable, but it's what he's doing that has us all nodding appreciatively and recognising this particular labour of love.
Like all of us, he's probably thinking he's overextended himself a tad with all those thousands of Lego pieces scattered in packets beside him. One of his Insta followers chimed in with some moral support: "How hard this can be compared to scoring goal from halfway line... You can do this mate."
One observant follower points out he's reading the last pages of the book: "...but why is he staring at the last pages of the book with NOTHING built." Good point.
Another offers some solid advice. "You're gonna need a hard surface for those first 50 layers otherwise it continually falls apart."
Our one question is how on Earth he's going to get the Lego castle from poolside to inside, but then that's a problem many of us will never face. We'll just leave it to Beckham to sort that out.
