A man has been taken to hospital with minor injuries after rolling a campervan on the South Island's alternative highway.

A man has been taken to hospital with minor injuries after the campervan he was driving rolled on the South Island's alternative highway, in Marlborough.

Emergency services were called to the crash site, on State Highway 63 near Wairau Valley township, about 40 kilometres west of Blenheim, about 7.30am on Sunday.

Renwick Volunteer Fire Brigade chief fire officer Murray Neal said the man, who was about 50-years-old, was taken to Wairau Hospital, in Blenheim, with minor injuries.

Two fire trucks from the Wairau Valley, one from Renwick, and a St John ambulance responded to the call-out, Neal said.
