Hot Ford hatch NZ decision still in limbo
It's still a waiting game to see whether a limited edition of Ford's fiesty hot hatch will get to NZ.
Ford initially revealed that only 1500 examples of the 2018 Focus RS Limited Edition would be sold in the US and Canada.
However, Ford Australia has just revealed it has managed to secure 500 examples which are due to arrive there in November.
Ford New Zealand doesn't appear to be having the same luck with a company spokesperson saying "unfortunately it's not confirmed for NZ just yet."
In June, Ford NZ said they were "actively investigating the opportunity for NZ," but on Friday said they were "looking to make a decision in the next month or so. We have quite a few RS enthusiasts in NZ so it would be great to bring that here."
In Australia, the Limited Edition Focus RS is priced at A$6000 more than the standard Focus RS.
For the extra money Ford has packed in more performance focused features, including a new Quaife limited-slip front differential for greater traction, 19-inch alloy wheels that wear Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres and blue trimmed leather Recaro shell seats.
On top of the performance focused features Ford has also added a rear spoiler, black mirrors caps and roof, blue "Nitrous" prestige paint and privacy glass, with the safety boosted by the addition of autonomous emergency braking.
Power still comes from the impressive 2.3-litre turbocharged petrol EcoBoost engine that is tuned to produce 257kW and 440Nm and is mated to six-speed manual transmission with power delivered to all four wheels.
