Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance car teasing begins
Carmakers are on the tease ahead of the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance show in California.
In the past 24 hours, Infiniti, Mercedes and Acura have all released teaser shots of vehicles they will unveil at the event which runs over the weekend of August 20-21.
For Mercedes, it is a Maybach convertible Vision concept that is expected to follow on from a concept coupe unveiled in 2016.
Infiniti will unveil a "heritage inspired prototype vehicle" said to celebrate their passion for design.
In explaining the thinking behind the prototype, Infiniti's Alfonso Albaisa said: "It started as a simple thought– what if we found a car, down at the Southern tip of Japan, buried deep in a barn, hidden from all eyes for 70 years. What if in this car we found the seed of passion planted during our first Japanese Grand Prix and the power and artistry of Infiniti today? What would this discovery look like?"
Acura (aka Honda in the US) will rip the covers off its newest racecar that will be campaigned by Team Penske in 2018. The ARX-05 marks the brand's anticipated return to prototype racing.
The news of these reveals follows that of a UK restoration company planning to unveil a restored 1954 Jaguar XK120 SE by Pininfarina at the show. The 63-year-old car is believed to be the only type of its kind in the world and has undergone a two-year "top secret" restoration in the UK before being shipped to Pebble Beach for its unveiling.
