Suspicious Dunedin package not a bomb
A suspicious package that caused part of Dunedin's CBD to be evacuated was not an explosive device, police say.
A small package and a note found taped to the NZ Post building on Moray Place sparked police to evacuate multiple buildings and close several roads on Friday afternoon.
The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Squad from the New Zealand Defence Force detonated the package and found it to be inert.

Police confirmed officers had interviewed the person responsible for placing the package.
"From what our investigation has established to date, we can assure the community that there was no danger to members of the public," police said in a statement.
As part of the investigation, police would determine if there was any criminal liability.
