Police, fire crews attend to trapped drivers in separate crashes
A man has been taken to Taranaki Base Hospital after being trapped in his car after a crash at a New Plymouth intersection.
Police and fire crews helped to get the man out of his car after it was sideswiped by another vehicle at the intersection of Young and Morley Streets in wet conditions around 6pm on Monday.
Senior Constable Vaughan Smith said the driver had failed to give way at the intersection.
The elderly man was uninjured and was taken to hospital as a precaution, Smith said.
The driver in the second vehicle was uninjured, he said.
Shortly after, police and fire service crews were alerted to another crash at Connett Rd, near Bell Block.
It is understood the driver is trapped in the car but no other details are known.
