Thieves nab cash, cigarettes in midnight raid on Waikato gas station
A Hamilton gas station has been robbed for the second time in four months.
Two people in dark clothing used some type of instrument to smash the front glass windows of the BP service station at Horotiu around midnight on Monday, Waikato police Senior Sergeant Shelley Begbie said.
Inside the pair stole cigarettes and cash.
A sole attendant was present in the station, she said, but was out in a back office when the thieves stormed in.

It was unclear how much of the thievery the man witnessed.
He was sent home and the station was closed following the break-in, Begbie said.
"There is limited description of the pair, except that they were wearing dark clothing."
She said the pair left in a vehicle that was potentially last seen travelling towards to the Waikato Expressway.
Police would return to the scene on Tuesday and obtain CCTV, she said.
This was the second time the BP has been hit by thieves this year after an aggravated robbery in March.
Three men armed with screwdrivers forced their way into the service station through the front door and threatened the attendant before taking off with cash and cigarettes.
