Wife puts husband's 'disgusting' pre-marriage clothes up for auction
A Nelson woman who gave her husband a makeover is now is auctioning off the "hideous" clothes he wore before the pair tied the knot.
Alongside listings for designer clothing, hair straighteners and a pair of leopard print heels, Trade Me user markds2 is auctioning off "a bulk lot of her husband's disgusting pre-marriage clothes".
The auction includes a variety of long sleeve shirts, t-shirts, shoes, coathangers and a bottle of Versace Eau Fraiche aftershave which is described as "blue bottled Rotorua".
"Okay chums, I don't even know why i am wasting my time listing these!! (possibly to make him feel slightly good about his old 'choice' of attire) but anyway," the listing reads.
The man's partner described the clothing as "awful", "gundy" and "yuck".
Most of the clothes are large or extra large in size. One of the T-shirts bears the slogan: "I'm not chubby, I'm just easy to see".
Suggestions for use included a dog's bed, rags or dress ups "if you want to look like a mechanic on a bad day".
The auction had one 50 cent bid on Saturday afternoon and had already been viewed over 1000 times. It is due to close on August 21.
"Some of the items smell like his old wardrobe and one of the shirts has some discolouration around the collar."
Several users had commented saying that they thought the husband had good taste.
"Your husbands got good taste and its a pity Karl Lagerfield hasn't found him," zilch4 wrote.
Another user asked if the shirts could be ironed before they were sent as they appeared to be a bit crinkled.
"Seeing as these things were wrenched out of the wardrobe on day three of the marriage and stuffed in a poor unsuspecting suitcase they are crumpled and no I cannot iron them because my iron has run out of water," the seller's response read.
