One dead and one critical after Te Puke car crash
One person is dead and another in critical condition after a car crashed into a tree in Te Puke.
Two people were trapped in the car, which crashed into a large tree on Jellicoe St, at 6.05pm on Sunday.
A northern fire communications spokesperson confirmed one person had died.
A second person was in critical condition after being freed from the vehicle and transported to Tauranga Hospital.

Acting Sergeant Phil Wilkinson said road closures would affect vehicles travelling through Te Puke.
Diversions were in place.
