Woman in critical condition after being hit by car near Cambridge
A woman may have been getting out of her car near Cambridge when she was hit by another vehicle.
She was in critical condition after the crash on Leamington's Bracken Street, around 7.30pm on Wednesday.
"She appears to have been getting out of her vehicle," Senior Sergeant Ray Malcolmson said.
However, police had just started investigating and couldn't confirm that was the case, he said.
Police are speaking with the driver of the vehicle and the police serious crash unit is investigating, a statement said.
St John Ambulance was still at the scene just before 8pm and the woman was in serious condition, a spokeswoman said.
A police statement later said the woman was taken to Waikato Hospital in a critical condition.
