Appeal for CCTV footage and phone videos after stabbings in Auckland's Grey Lynn

Two people were stabbed after a fight broke out at the Grey Lynn Tavern in Auckland on Sunday.

Businesses, homeowners and anyone who recorded a fight that ended with two people being stabbed in Auckland are being asked to handover footage to police. 

Acting Detective Inspector Glenn Baldwin said a "large" fight broke out at Grey Lynn Tavern on Great North Rd, at 1.15am on Sunday. 

The fight moved onto the road and two people were taken to Auckland City Hospital after receiving critical stab wounds. 

Police have now asked people to check homeowners and businesses to check their CCTV footage, and urged anyone who recorded the fight on their mobile phones to contact them.

On Monday, Baldwin said police had completed a scene examination at the Great North Rd site but were still looking at footage from the area.

"We believe there were a number of people recording the incident on their mobile phones and we would like anyone who has footage to get in touch with us," Baldwin said.

The two people who were stabbed were taken to Auckland City Hospital by friends and underwent surgery, he said.

The pair were now in a serious but stable condition, Baldwin said.
