A masked duo robbed Edinburgh Superette in Hillcrest in the middle of Wednesday afternoon.

They were wearing masks, carrying a knife and a hammer, and they burst into a Hamilton dairy.

Two people - thought to be male - robbed Hillcrest's Edinburgh Superette around 2.50pm on Wednesday.

The superette is on the corner of Edinburgh Road and Brocas Avenue.

The robbers took cash and cigarettes before fleeing on foot, leaving the male shop attendant with a cut to his hand.

Police and ambulance attended and the police are still investigating.
