Two men have been charged for the theft of a motorcycle in Tauranga.

The 1973 Norton Commando motorcycle was stolen from the Greerton Cherry Blossom Festival on September 30.

The bike was recovered by Tauranga police last week and returned to its owner.

A 43-year-old man was arrested last week and was charged with theft of the bike, Tauranga South police Constable Jonathon Mitchell said.

He is due to reappear in the Tauranga District Court on October 20.

A 23-year-old man has now been charged with receiving the motorcycle and hiding it at the address where it was recovered by police.

He is due to appear in Tauranga District Court on October 16.

Inquiries are ongoing in relation to the theft.
