Nelson: Showers, possibly thundery until evening, becoming isolated tonight and clearing tomorrow.
Marlborough and Canterbury: Rain, with some heavy falls about Marlborough and northern Canterbury overnight, clearing from the south tomorrow and becoming fine.
Buller and Westland: Scattered showers, possibly thundery in Buller until evening. Becoming fine tonight.
Southland and Otago: Mainly fine, but cloudy periods with patchy drizzle about the coast.
Fiordland: Fine at first. Isolated showers developing this afternoon, turning to rain tomorrow evening.
Chatham Islands: Mainly fine today. Increasing cloud and a few showers tomorrow.
Saturday: North Island, fine spells. Remaining showers in the east and also about Northland clearing. Cloud increasing from Waikato to Kapiti in the evening, with a few showers for Kapiti. South Island, showers in the south and west and mainly fine elsewhere.
Sunday: North Island, mostly cloudy in the west with a few showers from Waikato southwards. Mainly fine elsewhere. South Island, showers in the west, turning to rain about south Westland and Fiordland, with heavy falls later. Mostly sunny elsewhere.
Monday: North Island, rain spreading everywhere, with heavy falls in the west from Waitomo southwards. South Island, rain in the west, heavy at times with thunderstorms possible. Brief rain in the east.
Chatham Islands: Showers clearing on Saturday with easterlies dying out. Cloudy periods and northwesterlies developing on Sunday, with northwesterlies strengthening on Monday.
