Nelson City Council's elected members salaries increased

Elected members of Nelson City Council have received pay increases.

Nelson's mayor and councillors have received a pay rise.

The new salaries were outlined in the Mayor's Report at Nelson City Council's full meeting on Thursday.

Mayor Rachel Reese's salary increased from $128,875 per annum to $131,066.

While deputy mayor Paul Matheson was given a $1314 pay increase to $60,984 per annum.

The four committee chairs Ian Barker, Brian McGurk, Gaile Noonan and Tim Skinner received an $818 boost to $48,952.

The four deputy committee chairs Bill Dahlberg, Mel Courtney, Mike Rutledge and Stuart Walker were given $42,479 per annum from $41,769. Councillors received the smallest pay increase of $672, going from $39,780 per annum to $40,452.

The salaries of elected officials are set by the Renumeration Authority.
