The driver of a burgundy Nissan was crossing the intersection travelling straight on Trafalgar St when the crash occurred.

The male rider was taken to hospital with minor injuries, while the female driverwas uninjured.

The Original Baked Potatoes cart owner Aaron Clapshaw said he was crossing the road when the accident happened.

He said he heard a loud noise and it was "pretty horrific". Clapshaw said he had seen "heaps of near misses" on the intersection during his eight years working at the cart, which is located on the corner of Trafalgar and Hardy streets.

Silver Shop owner Brendan Santorini said the rider must have "a really sore left leg" because the impact of the fall damaged the bike, spilling oil and anti freeze solution on the street.
