Marist captain Scott Eade talks about winning the 2017 Galbraith Shield final.

The Galbraith Shield is heading to Miller St.

Marist have beaten Star in the 2017 Southland premier club rugby final to claim the proud club's first Galbraith Shield title since 2001.

Marist led 13-0 at halftime with captain and first five-eighth Scott Eade racking up all 13 points through two penalties a try and a conversion.

He extended it to 16-0 early in the second half with another penalty.

Minutes later Star finally got the board through a Pedro Benazilla penalty, but when flanker Tangaroa Walker showed good strength to score and make it 23-3 the Marist supporters really started to get vocal.

Star scored two tries to send some nerves into the Marist camp at 23-15 with 10 min to play but there was no miracle come back from Star.

Eade had the last say with another penalty to make the final score 26-15 and send Marist into celebration mode.
