Arsenal's $93 million man Alexandre Lacazette to play in Sydney
The most expensive signing in Arsenal's history will make his club debut in this week's games in Australia after Alexandre Lacazette's role for their upcoming tour was confirmed by their coach, Arsene Wenger.
The French striker bought for $89 million from Lyon last week is likely to feature in Thursday's game against Sydney FC at ANZ Stadium as well as backing-up two days later against Western Sydney Wanderers at the same venue on Saturday.
At the official press conference for Arsenal's first tour of Australia in 40 years, Wenger declared Lacazette will make his first appearance for Arsenal after his record switch and has already planned to use the 26-year-old in both games.
"On Thursday he will certainly play a part in the game and the other game as well, he will take part in that game," Wenger said.
After finishing fifth last year and missing out on the UEFA Champions League for the first time in Arsene Wenger's 21-year tenure, the club embarked on a recruitment drive this season and smashed their previous transfer record by more than $17 million with the purchase of Lacazette.
The Gunners are also in the hunt to sign midfielder Thomas Lamar form Monaco as well as his teammate, French star Kylian Mbappe, whom Arsene Wenger indicated as being their two major targets for this transfer window.
