Lions tour flash-back: Warren Gatland scores against the touring Lions in 1993
British and Irish Lions coach Warren Gatland is plotting the downfall of the Chiefs on Tuesday night.
But 24 years ago the then Waikato hooker was terrorising the touring Lions in 1993.
Gatland, a former All Blacks front rower who played 17 matches for New Zealand, scored a try against the touring Lions.
Waikato famously won 38-10 over the tourists and Gatland was ranging out wide to score.
Fast forward to 2017 and Gatland is now coaching the Lions, on their New Zealand tour.
On Tuesday night he'll return to Hamilton when the Lions play the Chiefs in their sixth tour match.
Gatland may have played 140 games for Waikato, but don't expect him to ask his side to take it easy on the Chiefs.
Especially not when you consider the Chiefs thrashed a touring Wales team 40-7 last year.
