Former All Blacks forward Victor Vito has been shortlisted for French rugby's Top 14 player of the year award after a stellar season with beaten semifinalist La Rochelle.

Vito is one of three players in line for the award with Lyon's England No 8 Carl Fearns nominated, as well as Clermont's French centre Remi Lamerat.

Fearns scored eight tries in 19 games this season while Lamerat was a key figure in helping Clermont win the Top 14 title, and also progress to the European Champions Cup final where they lost to Saracens.

The winner of the Top 14 player of the year will be announced in Paris on September 18.
