Spotswood United's Ale Feaunati crashes into Coastal's David Hughes during the division one final.

There was some consolation for the Coastal club after they lost the premier rugby final with titles heading down State Highway 45 for the division one and two teams.

The division one side showed plenty of character on defence to beat Spotswood United 19-13 at Yarrow Stadium.

Without a lot of possession for long periods, Coastal shut down just about everything Spotswood United could throw at them, including over the last few minutes when they had to push back several lineout drives.

Coastal were also more ruthless when it came to capitalising on their opposition's mistakes which they did really well in the first half to take a 12-7 lead into the break.

They then had to come from behind in the second half as Spotswood United took a 13-12 lead.

However, the hard working Coastal pack combined to get them over the line from a 5m scrum to take the lead which they held on to through their desperate defence.

The division two final was a lot more one-sided, with Coastal beating Patea 34-9 on the No 2 field at the stadium.

Coastal had been the form team in the latter stages of the competition but the match was expected to be closer than what it was.

By the end of 80 minutes Coastal had run in four tries while Patea could only manage three penalties.

Clifton showed they have some exciting talent coming up through their ranks with the colts side beating Spotswood United 36-25 in the curtain raiser to the premier final.

The match was more one-sided than the score would indicate with Clifton ahead 36-18 with time up before Spotswood United scored a consolation try.

The Clifton division three side gave the club a double with a 29-24 win over Southern.
