The Togetherness Tour Kotahitanga will be at Witt on March 5.

People in New Plymouth twill have a chance to learn about the Islamic religion when a national tour stops off in the city on Thursday.

Voice of Islam's Togetherness Tour Kotahitanga is a response to the Christchurch mosque attacks of March 15, 2019, when a lone gunman killed 51 people.

Hosted at the Western Institute of Technology at Taranaki's Te Piere o Te Rangi Building, a mini exhibition titled What is Islam will run from 5pm to 9pm, as well as public guest lectures from 6pm to 8pm, which aim to create a better understanding of Islam in the community.

The guest speakers are Fahad Tasleem, founder of spiritually empowering institute DC Seminary,  One Ummah ambassador Tim Chambers, and Volunteer Sierra Leone worker John Fontain.

The tour is travelling throughout the country before finishing in Christchurch on March 15.

Meanwhile, on March 15 a day of reflection will be held at the New Plymouth Islamic Centre from 12pm-3pm, in memory of the Mosque attacks.

An Islamic exhibition, tree planting tribute and speakers will take place throughout the three-hour event hosted by the Muslim Association of Taranaki.
