Six-month-old baby dies in central Christchurch, police investigating
Police are investigating the death of a six-month-old baby in central Christchurch.
Detective Inspector Darryl Sweeney said officers were called to a property on Fitzgerald Ave about 5am on Monday.
"This is an unfortunate event for all involved," he said.
"The police team have been working through this sad event and it has been difficult for those attending."
A St John spokesman said the baby died because of a medical event.
Sweeney said police were liaising with the coroner.
"The immediate family are being supported and the investigation will continue in the coming days," Sweeney said.
