Christchurch house engulfed by flames
A fire that fully engulfed a Christchurch home has been extinguished.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman Andrew Norris said they received multiple calls about the fire at a house on the corner of Centennial Ave and Tika St, in Upper Riccarton.
Three crews attended the blaze, which started about 5pm on Thursday.
"It was well involved on arrival, certainly burning very well," Norris said.
The blaze was "done and dusted" by 7.30pm and one crew remained at the scene a while longer to dampen down hot spots.
Fire spokesman Riwai Grace said the fire was not suspicious.
The cause of the blaze was not immediately known, he said.
A fire investigator would examine the fire scene on Friday.
